HORNSBY & KU-RING-GAI 100TH
YEAR CENTENARY
|
In 2009 Freemasonry in this district celebrated its centenary. Copies of the book that was published to commemorate this event and which includes much of the history, especially of Lodge Hornsby, entitled “A Century in the Shire” are still available and may be obtained from Bill Gomes at Telephone No. 9144 4033.
Because many Masons no longer wish to travel at night,
when most lodges meet, a 'daylight' lodge has been established with a
foundation membership in excess of 30 members.
This lodge meets at 10.30 a,m. on the third Tuesday of
every month ( except December and January) at the Turramurra Centre.
Guest speakers and tours are the main activities followed by lunch.
Any former Mason who would like to restore his Masonic
social interactivity is more than welcome. Telephone Secretary Keith
Stockley at 0403 676 653.
Not all bikies are a menace. Freemasons in the shire
who not only ride motor bikes, but also enjoy them, have got together
to establish their own lodge. Lodge Highway now exists. Enquiries:
telephone Lynden Norgate at 9477 4447.
Members of all lodges in the district share a great
social, family time, at the recently instituted district BBQ which is
held on the first Sunday every month at the Pymble Bi-Centennial
park.
Donations in cash, kind or labour are made to local community organisations and local charities on a regular basis. Cash donations from lodges, members and the District Newspaper Collection Committee have been a part of the district lodges' community activity for nearly a century.
